Description
Pokemon Kalos Crystal is a sequel to Unova Red. It is a reimagining of Generation 2, where the first generation of Pokemon was the Unova Pokedex and the new second generation of Pokemon is the Kalos Pokedex. This game includes all Pokemon from Generations 5 and 6, and like Unova Red, all Pokemon in the Pokedex can be acquired in a single playthrough.
Aside from the new Pokemon, the game functions essentially the same as the original. The biggest difference is the inclusion of the fairy types. This game also updated the type matchup table to the modern table first used in Gen 6. All of the new moves that were added in Unova Red are also included here, as well as several new moves to complement the new Fairy type, as well as adding some signature moves for Gen 6 Pokemon and simply filling out some underrepresented types. A corresponding number of moves were also removed from the game, mostly special moves from Gen 1 and 2 Pokemon or simply moves that didn’t fit well with Gen 5 and 6 Pokemon.
As in Unova Red, all standard trade evolutions have been converted to standard level-up evolutions, and some of the stone evolutions have also been changed. All Gen 5 Pokemon evolve in the same way as in Unova Red. A full list of evolution methods can be found in the spoiler logs.
Some TMs have been changed and a full list can be found in the spoiler logs. As in Gen 2, TMs can only be used once. Additionally, as in Gen 2, moves are still classified as physical or special depending on type. The only exception (as in Unova Red) is that Ghost is classified as SPECIAL while Dark is classified as PHYSICAL. The new fairy type is also classified as SPECIAL.
